The Small Business Interview is meant to

The Small Business Interview is meant to offer a “real life” learning experience for students. It starts with selecting a subject to interview, and it needs to be domestic (U.S.) small to medium sized business and not a relative. Any exceptions to this must be approved by the instructor. It is strongly suggested that students use this to further their career aspirations, i.e. interviewing someone that is already in a business or industry that the student wishes to pursue. This will make the assignment more interesting and practical.Students need to prepare for this interview by developing a brief set of questions that can guide the conversation. However, please be aware that some of the questions need to be open-ended, meaning that the interviewee can elaborate (in contrast to close-ended questions that request a specific answer). The assignment will be graded with the following criteria:A brief history of the interviewee’s history and experience in his/her businessAn application of class theory, especially the entrepreneurial profile as noted in Chapter 1 (i.e. the student’s observation of entrepreneurial traits)Some quotes/paraphrases on recommendations that the interviewee has for entrepreneurs and small business owners.Assignments are expected to be 4 pages of text (not including the Cover Page of any Appendices), in Word, with a font size of 12 and 1.0 line spacing.
